The latest iteration of the Platina 110 is introduced as the Platina H gear. Here, H stands for ‘Highway’ gear. Simply put, the latest iteration of the Platina 110 comes with a 5th gear, unlike the Platina 100.
The addition of the 5th gear made it possible for the Platina 110 to achieve better fuel efficiency. Furthermore, the 5th gear allows the Bajaj Platina 110 to cruise the highways at triple-digit speeds at relatively low engine speeds (RPM). This allows the rider and the pillion rider to remain comfortable due to low engine vibrations on the motorcycle’s handle, seat, and footrests.
The visual packaging
The overall appearance of the Platina 110 has been kept unchanged by Bajaj Auto since the motorcycle was introduced back in 2006. However, the unchanged and dated design of the motorcycle is not a deterrent for its admirers.
Buyers in 2023 still love the square-shaped headlamp, the sleek fuel tank and the sweeping tail end of the motorcycle. Nevertheless, the latest iteration of the Platina has a few subtle additions in its visual packaging. For instance, the fuel tank is now has a golden 3D Platina badge. The seat now comes with a quilt pattern and has an embossed ‘Comfortec’ logo on it as well.
The crankcase on the Platina 110 H Gear has been blacked out. This was done in a bid to make the seemingly dated visual packaging of this motorcycle a tad bit more desirable.
Price
The official Bajaj bikes price list states that the ex-showroom price of the Platina 110 H Gear is ₹ 68,359. All leading lenders in India offer bespoke bike loan schemes for this motorcycle. Hence, buying one today should be an easy affair. However, you should remember that the bike’s price can vary from place to place.
The electromechanical packaging
The latest iteration of the Platina 110 H Gear comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster from the factory.
The semi-digital instrument cluster comprises an analogue speedometer and a small digital display. The digital display unit is programmed to show a clock, the fuel meter, the odometer and a trip meter. The digital display also shows the gear’s position and a gear shift guide!
Bajaj has also equipped the Platina 110 with a single front 240 mm disc brake. The addition of ABS would have been a game changer. But the motorcycle comes with hydraulic CBS in a bid to keep the MSRP low.
The motorcycle is equipped with a traditional front fork suspension. The rear suspensions are two hydraulic shock absorbers. The front suspension travel factor is 135 mm. Each rear suspension has 110 mm of travel factors. The rear swingarm of the Platina 110 has been reinforced to enhance the motorcycle’s overall stability, especially after the modified suspension travel factors. The front and rear 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 80/100-17 section tubeless tyres from the factory.
Powering the Platina 110 is Bajaj’s 115.45 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled, BS6-compliant engine. The engine’s peak power and torque outputs are 8.5 bhp and 9.81 Nm, respectively. The peak power is unlocked at 7000 RPM. The peak torque, on the other hand, is unlocked at a mere 5000 RPM.
Overall comfort
The Platina 110 H Gear has a seat placed at a height of 807 mm from the ground level. This feature enables riders of varying heights, whether tall or short, to mount and dismount from the motorcycle effortlessly. The riding triangle is similar to a typical commuter bike. Hence, the rider sits with an upright stance. This allows one to ride the Platina 110 H Gear for hours on end in comfort.
Ride quality and handling
The overall ride quality of the Platina 110 H Gear is plush. The suspensions and their enhanced travel factors allow the Platina 110 H Gear to glide over potholes, speed breakers, and the worst patches of Indian roads. The Platina 110 H Gear has a dry weight of just 118 kg, and with the addition of the narrow handlebar, the bike offers impressive manoeuvrability. Nonetheless, the Bajaj Platina 110 price is pocket-friendly, offering a fantastic riding experience without breaking the bank.
