We are here to tell you the setup solutions for the D-Link router. Our focus is not just on the internet connection, but also other important things like DNS server. The DNS server matters a lot in speeding up the internet speed and your internet connection as well and therefore in creating a guest WiFi network.
Before starting the connection procedure we need to first figure out the connection itself. To start with the process of Dlinkrouter.local. Let’s cross-check the IPs provided by the ISP.
Get Start with the DSL Users
-
Without Modem DSL Users- First, connect your ISP modem to the PPPoE to connect one of your D-Link routers. In case your ISP has not provided any services for the modem. Only then use the information. Therefore, on the primary basis check the internet to the router after adding the details of the PPPoE credentials.
-
Set up DSL users with modem/router combo – In case you were using the modem and router combo many days ago, and you still do not have its credentials then it’s best to use PPPoE credentials. Not having them ask for the new ones from your registered ISP. We have to set the D-Link router behind the modem and then set it to the Bridge or DMZ mode.
-
Cable/Fiber users – If you are up with just a modem, then one router connection is enough behind the modem. You need to reboot the modem once you fully connect the D-Link router. If you have a combo of modem/router then you need to set the Bridge or DMZ mode.
Let’s Start with the Bridge or DMZ Mode Setup
We need to set the current router to the bridge mode. However make sure to note that once you set the D-link router to a bridge mode it won’t route since then, it will essentially be a dumb switch. It can pass on the internet connection via a certain LAN port.
Look down in the user manual guide. To set your router in bridge mode, the procedure is totally different. So let’s start following with these given steps:
1. First search out the router IP address.
2. Primarily just press the Start and type CMD then press the enter button gently.
3. Then in the next step a black dos box, will be visible to you in which you need to type ipconfig. Lastly, press the enter button.
4. Note your default gateway address.
5. When you start configuring the routers make sure you start with a new browsing tab. 192.168.1.1 is the IP address in my case.
6. Then make sure to look for the internet settings page.
7. Lastly look up the Enable Bridge mode or Enable DMZ mode.
Finally, start up with a Router Final Setup.
The D-Link Router Setup
After doing all the prerequisites, we can start with setting up the D-Link router. Let’s assume you are having access to a proper internet connection through the router and the WAN ports simultaneously connect your computer with one of the LAN ports.
-
Let’s start the procedure here by opening the new tab. Thereafter, navigate with the IP address which is 192.168.1.1.
-
Second, you can leave the password space empty but the default Username is admin.
-
The internet wizard will open when you try to log in at once.
-
In case, you are unable to get the Setup wizard just click over the internet connection, and you will easily get a way through the wizard center page.
-
Sometimes setting up a strong password can help. At least make sure to create eight characters of passwords. By pressing the next button follow the further procedure.
-
For just once select your time zone then, finally connect your internet with further steps.
-
Connect through the DHCP when you have a modem to connect to the internet. There is nothing to think much just select the DHCP and press on the next button.
-
Through Username and Password, you have to enter the credentials you have gotten through your ISP. Let me remind you the Username is Admin.
-
Just press the connect button if the above steps are complete.
Hope these steps will finally help you with the Setup and Login to Dlink router as well. Feel free to manage your home network now!
